An afternoon on the wine road, seen from the window
The Hill Country half of a bachelorette Saturday starts late, around noon, after a slow breakfast at the rental. The bus climbs out of town on US-290 past Oak Hill, and the first stop is usually somewhere in Dripping Springs or Driftwood, where Duchman has a shaded patio and a lawn that handles a group of fourteen in matching hats without a second look. Summer versions and the Lake Travis day
When the bachelorette lands in July or August, the wine road gives way to the water. The bus runs Loop 360 or RM 620 out to a marina near Lakeway, where a party boat takes the group for four hours of Devil's Cove and floating in the coves near Hippie Hollow. The ride out is thirty-five minutes of sunscreen and coolers; the ride back is thirty-five minutes of sunburn and naps.
