Austin party bus prices: what groups actually pay

The middle of our own Austin quote history is $1,340 for the whole trip, about $87 a person and $249 an hour. Half of all quotes fell between $1,070 and $1,550. This page shows those numbers by day, hours, and group size, sets them beside the hourly rates other Austin operators publish, and explains what moves your quote up or down.

The short answer

A party bus in Austin usually costs between $1,000 and $1,600 for a four- to six-hour night, and most groups pay $50 to $120 a person once the bill is split. Our own records back that up: 60 percent of Austin Party Ride quotes with a valid amount fell between $1,000 and $1,499, and another 31 percent fell between $1,500 and $1,999. Only about one quote in ten landed outside that $1,000 to $2,000 band, and those were either small limos on short runs or large coaches on long days.

Hourly rate cards published by other Austin operators in September 2026 tell the same story from the other direction. A 14- to 20-passenger party bus is listed at $150 to $250 an hour, and a 20- to 30-passenger bus at $175 to $300, almost always with a four-hour minimum on weekends. Multiply the middle of those ranges by four or five hours and you arrive at the same $1,000 to $1,500 zone our medians sit in. The per-person numbers below are the ones to use in a group chat, and the per-person calculator does the split for you.

What Austin groups were quoted, by situation

Every row is a median from our own inquiry records, with the middle half beside it so you can see the spread. The per-person and per-hour columns come from the same quotes divided by the number of people and the hours each group asked for. Read across a row that matches your plan, then use the factors further down to see which direction your quote is likely to move.

What other Austin operators publish

We checked the public rate cards and 2026 price guides of Austin operators and two booking marketplaces in September 2026 and collapsed them into the ranges below. They are useful for a sanity check, with two cautions: most of them exclude a service charge of roughly 20 percent, and weekend rates on the same bus run 25 to 35 percent higher than the weekday figure that often headlines the page.

VehiclePublished hourly rangeTypical minimumNotes
Stretch limo, 8โ€“14 passengers$100โ€“$2003โ€“4 hoursListed rates cluster at $169โ€“$195 per hour on weekends.
Sprinter, 10โ€“14 passengers$125โ€“$2003โ€“4 hoursSome weekend rate cards run $220โ€“$340 per hour for limo-style sprinters.
Party bus, 14โ€“20 passengers$150โ€“$2504 hoursThe most-quoted size in Austin; Saturday rates sit at the top of the range.
Party bus, 20โ€“30 passengers$175โ€“$3004โ€“5 hoursWeekend rate cards commonly show $270โ€“$420 per hour for full-feature buses.
Party bus, 30โ€“40 passengers$250โ€“$4004โ€“5 hoursFewer units in the city, so peak weekends book out first.
Shuttle or coach, 40โ€“56 passengers$160โ€“$3504โ€“5 hoursSeated shuttles cost less per hour than party buses of the same capacity.

Six things that move an Austin quote

1. The day of the week

Fifty-five percent of Austin requests with a known event date ask for a Saturday, and 82 percent fall between Friday and Sunday. Saturday quotes in our records ran a median of $1,410 against $1,340 overall, and the Saturday middle half shifted up to $1,250โ€“$1,700. The cheapest realistic night for the same bus is a Thursday; a Sunday afternoon wine tour usually prices like a weekday.

2. How many hours you book

Four hours is the most common request in Austin, at 46 percent of inquiries with a known duration, and four-hour quotes had the lowest median total at $1,050. The per-hour figure tells the other half of the story: those same four-hour trips cost $263 an hour, above the $249 overall, because the fixed cost of staging the bus and chauffeur is spread across fewer hours. Add a fifth hour and the total rises, but each hour gets cheaper. Plan the route with the timeline planner before deciding whether the fifth hour is worth it.

3. Group size, and the vehicle it forces

The vehicle sets the price, not the number of people, which is why small groups pay the most per person. Groups of ten or fewer were quoted a median of $156 a person, groups of 11 to 15 came in at $100, and the overall median is $87. Fifty-four percent of Austin groups with a recorded group size fall in the 11โ€“20 range, which lands on the 20-passenger party bus, the size where the per-person number starts to look reasonable. Above 30 people, a seated shuttle or coach is cheaper per hour than a party bus of the same capacity.

4. The season

April through June carries 47 percent of requested dates in our Austin records: prom, graduation, wedding season, and the first lake weekends all land at once. Quotes for those months had a median of $1,400 and the widest middle half, $1,050 to $1,680, because the same weeks contain a Tuesday prom limo and a Saturday 30-passenger bachelorette. July to September came in at $1,345 with a lower per-hour figure of $238, since summer trips run longer. SXSW in March and ACL in October behave like spring Saturdays.

5. The route and where it starts

Fifty-four percent of Austin requests start and end at the same address, and those loops were quoted a median of $1,340, right on the overall number. A different end point is not a surcharge, but it changes the hours: a pickup in Round Rock with a last drop in South Austin spends 40 minutes of the booking on I-35. The distance tool shows how much of your block a suburb pickup eats before the first stop.

6. How far ahead you ask

The median Austin group asks 32 days before the event. Asking earlier does not lower the rate card, but it decides which vehicles are still open, and the difference between the bus you wanted and the next size up is usually $100 to $300 for the night. For any Saturday in April, May, or October, 60 to 90 days ahead is the practical window.

Four worked examples

These take a common Austin plan and read it against the matching row above. They are reference bands, not quotes, and the per-person figure assumes every seat is paid for.

PlanReference bandSplit
Bachelorette, 14 people, Saturday, 5 hours, Rainey Street loop$1,250โ€“$1,700 (Saturday middle half)$89โ€“$121 each
Birthday, 20 people, Friday, 4 hours, East Austin bars$1,020โ€“$1,400 (4-hour middle half)$51โ€“$70 each
Wine tour, 12 people, Sunday, 6 hours, Dripping Springs$1,215โ€“$1,565 (small-group middle half)$101โ€“$130 each
Wedding shuttle, 40 guests, Saturday, 6 hours, hotel to Hill Country venue$960โ€“$2,100 (published shuttle rates ร— 6)$24โ€“$53 each

Compare the last row with the first: a 40-guest wedding shuttle can cost less per head than a 14-person bachelorette, because seated shuttles are priced below party buses and the bill is split forty ways. If your group is on the fence between two sizes, the group size tool and the vehicle comparison show what each choice does to the per-person number.

How to pay less for the same night

  • Move off Saturday. A Friday or Thursday for the same bus usually prices like a weekday. In our records the Saturday premium on the median quote was about five percent, and published rate cards put it at 25 to 35 percent.
  • Fill the seats. The bus costs the same at 14 people or 20. Two more friends on a 20-passenger bus drops the per-person figure by roughly ten percent.
  • Book four hours, plan five. Ask for the four-hour block if the route is central Austin with three stops. The overtime rate is on your quote, so an extra hour is a decision, not a surprise.
  • One pickup point. A single pickup and the same drop-off keeps the whole block on the route. Collect the group at one house or hotel.
  • Avoid festival weekends unless the festival is the plan. SXSW, ACL, and the prom-to-graduation stretch price like peak nights.
  • Ask 31 to 90 days out. That window is where most Austin groups land and where the first-choice vehicle is still open, which avoids paying for a larger bus you did not need.

Austin party bus pricing questions

Straight answers on hours, per-person costs, weekends, gratuity, and why quotes vary.

In our own Austin records, requests for exactly four hours carried a median historical quote of $1,050, with the middle half between $1,020 and $1,400. That works out to about $68 per passenger at the sizes people usually book. Published Austin rate cards for a 14- to 20-passenger bus run $150 to $250 an hour, so four hours from another operator lands in a similar $600 to $1,000 band before gratuity. The number we send you will differ by vehicle and date.
The median across 144 historical Austin quotes is $87 per passenger. Groups of 11 to 15 came in at $100 each and groups of 10 or fewer at $156 each, because a small group still pays for the whole vehicle. Once you pass 16 people the per-person number falls quickly, which is why a 20- or 24-passenger bus is the cheapest way to move a big birthday.
Minimums depend on the vehicle and the date and come with the number we send you rather than a rule on this page. Around Austin, four hours is the norm for weekend nights, and some operators require five on Saturdays in April, May, and October. Forty-six percent of our Austin inquiries with a known duration ask for exactly four hours, and the median request is five.
Yes. Saturday events in our records had a median historical quote of $1,410 against $1,340 overall, and the per-hour figure rose to $263. Published Austin rate cards put weekend rates 25 to 35 percent above weekday rates for the same bus. Fifty-five percent of Austin requests with a known date are Saturdays, so that is where the demand and the price sit.
Read the quote. Many Austin operators add a service charge of about 20 percent to the hourly rate, and others leave the tip to the group. Either way, plan on 15 to 20 percent of the base for the chauffeur if it is not already on the bill, and use the tip calculator on this site to split it before the night starts.
They do. April to June carries 47 percent of requested dates in our Austin records, and April-to-June events had a median historical quote of $1,400. Published guides put festival and graduation-season premiums at 20 to 35 percent above a normal weekend. Booking 31 to 90 days ahead is the practical answer; that window is where most Austin groups land and where first-choice vehicles are still open.
It can, because the clock and the mileage start when the vehicle leaves the yard. Suburb pickups usually mean different start and end points, which add drive time inside your booked hours. When you mention the exact pickup address and where the night ends, the hours in your quote cover the real trip instead of a downtown loop.
Because a median is the middle of hundreds of different trips, not a rate. Your date, vehicle, hours, group size, and route move the number through the $1,070 to $1,550 middle half and sometimes outside it. A 10-passenger limo for a Tuesday anniversary dinner and a 30-passenger bus for a Saturday bachelorette are both in this data set. The quote you receive is built from your details and is the only number that counts.
