Only about 7% of the groups in our booking data are over thirty people, and the 45 is where the largest of them land. It is for the guest list that is still moving two weeks out, the group that wants more room than a full 40, and the organizer who would rather deal with one driver than two buses and two sets of pickup times. A wedding party plus out-of-town guests leaving a Congress Avenue hotel, a company of forty going from the Domain to a holiday dinner downtown, a fortieth birthday that turned into a reunion: this bus keeps them together.
At this capacity the evening needs a shape more than it needs stops. Loading forty-plus people takes time no matter how good the driver is, so the nights that work best have one clear pickup, one or two places that matter, and one ride home. A wedding venue in Dripping Springs to a Rainey Street after-party and back to the hotel. A company event space on East 6th to a concert at the Moody Center. A rental compound on Lake Travis into downtown for the night. Hotel blocks, venues, and rental houses all have a place a bus this size can pull in, and the driver knows which door to use.
Thirty-eight to forty-two is the comfortable range, with floor to stand on and a bar people can actually get to. Forty-five fits, and for a short hotel-to-venue run it is fine, but it is the maximum rather than the ideal. This is also the point where the question of party bus versus coach gets real: a group that wants a quiet, seated, long-distance ride with luggage bays and a restroom is better on a 48- or 56-passenger coach. Choose the 45 over the 40 when you are at thirty-eight to forty-two with gowns, coolers, or a nine-hour wedding day, because the extra length is where the comfort lives. Choose the 40 when a downtown corner or a ranch gate makes the longer bus a problem. Choose the shuttle instead when guests are arriving with luggage, the ride is mostly seated, or the trip runs longer than ninety minutes each way; forward-facing seats and luggage space beat a wet bar on a Houston run.
