How the polls fit into an Austin trip plan

Most groups that call us have the date and a rough number of people but not a clear idea of where the night goes. The polls are a fast way to figure that out. Because the options are local, the leaders in each category make a ready-made night out for a food tour, bar crawl, or brunch bus route.

When you reach out, mention the winners you want to hit. We will put them in drive-time order and tell you which ones have curb space for a 20-passenger bus versus a 45-passenger bus. Rainey Street and East 6th, for example, are very different places to load a bus.

Planning polls: events, vehicles, booking, and routes

The planning categories are grouped so you can move from the occasion to the vehicle to the booking details. Event polls cover everything from prom and weddings to casino trips and holiday parties. Vehicle polls ask what people expect from a party bus, stretch or SUV limo, or shuttle and coach. Booking polls cover deposits, tipping, BYOB rules, overtime, and minimum hours.

What the votes look like on a Saturday night

The BBQ poll is the one that changes plans. A group of fourteen leaving Round Rock at five will read that Franklin is winning, look at the line, and pick the runner-up in East Austin instead, which is exactly the point. The taco poll tends to settle the late stop, since the places that win it are the ones still open at one in the morning near Rainey and East Sixth. The brunch poll fills the Sunday morning after a bachelorette weekend, when nobody wants to decide anything and a patio under live oaks with mimosas already wins.

The planning polls do quieter work. A prom parent who sees that most families voted for one central pickup stops arguing for six house stops. A wedding planner who sees that guests prefer two shuttle waves over one big departure builds the timeline that way. None of it is science, and the sample is whoever found this page, but it is a few hundred Austin groups thinking about the same night you are.
